The third season started with “Flashpoint,” which is a very popular story arc in the comic series. At the end of the second season, Barry’s father, played by actor John Wesley Shipp, was killed by Flash’s enemy in front of him and extreme mourning led him to run back in time in the season finale. Aside from exploring Barry’s past, the first season ended with the introduction of the multiverse, which the second season explored deeply. Actor Tom Cavanagh has played different characters in all three seasons, but all of which became sort of a father figure and mentor to Barry.
